Jesus is the Wise Man
Advent is a time to prepare for Christ’s coming. There are many gospels that talks about how we must be ready to welcome Jesus into our hearts. There is one gospel that particularly sticks out to me. Jesus says,”…I will liken unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, & the floods came, & the winds blew, & beat upon that house; and it fell not:for it was founded upon a rock…” (Matthew 7:21-29) This language is figurative in the sense that the rock is meant to stand for God. We have to build a solid foundation, relationship, with God. This relationship consists of prayer, meditation of the scriptures and contemplation. Moreover, we are able to judge our actions and know if they are in accordance with God’s will. This passage also suggests that we should not wait till the later years of our lives to start to know and love God. We do not know when judgement day or our death may come.
How are our foundations? How do I face the issues ahead? “It is a matter of holding on to faith. I am mindful of Mary and Joseph’s faith during their long journey to Bethlehem. They did not give up on God’s promise. I pray that whatever God has in store for me will help me to see beyond just this moment into a glorious journey of faith.”- Adorers of the Precious Blood
We do not know the hour that the Lord is coming, so let us prepare our hearts.
